Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Tax Preparer in Georgia. This role is ideal for someone with extensive experience in preparing complex individual income tax returns, specifically 1040s, and will begin as a part-time position, expanding into full-time duties during peak tax season. The primary focus will be on individual returns, with opportunities to support estate and trust returns, as well as complex business tax returns, including C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, and Nonprofits.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complex individual income tax returns, focusing on 1040s (all schedules) and additional work on estates and trusts (1041).
- Provide support with complex business tax returns, including 1120 (C-Corp), 1120S (S-Corp), 1065 (Partnerships), and 990 (Nonprofits).
- Perform book-to-tax adjustments and reconcile client records as needed.
- Assist clients with tax planning, projections, and strategic guidance.
- Resolve client tax issues at both federal and state levels.
- May assist clients with QuickBooks services (Desktop and Online), particularly for S-Corporations.
- Communicate effectively with clients via email, phone, Zoom, or Teams, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience preparing complex individual income tax returns (1040s, all schedules) and estates and trusts (1041) in a CPA firm environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; EA or CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with complex business tax returns is highly preferred.
- Experience with book-to-tax adjustments is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (UltraTax, SurePrep, CCH, Drake, TaxWise, ATX, TaxAct, etc.).
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Online (experience only required if supporting S-Corps).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience handling virtual client interactions.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, inquisitive, and a collaborative team player.
